"Enchanted Pacific" by Lorenzo Foncerrada This beautiful wood sculpture of a Mermaid and Parrot was finally named "Enchanted Pacific." Having won "FIRST PLACE in CARVING" at the prestigious Annual 'DESIGN IN WOOD SHOW" at the Del Mar Fair, north of San Diego. What started out as a Yew Pine (Podacarpus) destined for land fill or fireplaces, has fast become a very big attraction in Old Town San Diego. |
"Fonce" had seen this tree growing in his neighborhood for almost forty years. On his way home one day, he was shocked to see this beautiful tree had been fallen, chopped down. A tree which had grown to almost fifty feet tall now lay in pieces, ready to be hauled away. From that point, he was a Wood Carver on a mission..."I could not let this tree just die and go to waste, it's beautiful wood" |
