Master Carvers of Bali

The Wood Carvers of Bali are all independent Artists. They do not work for large companies or "sweat shops". These artisans have a tradition of independence going back hundreds of years. For the Balinese people,Wood Carvers are considered the most honored of professions.

Wayan Winten is one of Bali's Master Carvers. His works are seen in galleries and museums in major cities around the world. Only in his late thirties, he is already one of the most celebrated Master Carvers of Bali.

The white carvings are huge monuments of scenes from the ancient epic The Mahabarata and are beautifully elaborated projects shaped and carved out of plaster with a construction bar structure.
